Just write, He said.

I’ve been sitting on this thought for quite a while. We are living in a 30 second results-driven generation. “Why write?”, I asked. First God and then to myself. The first though that popped into my head was “nobody reads anymore.” They just watch thirty second clips for their answers to their immediately-needed-answered questions to be responded to at the flip of a scrolled-down screen. So when I finally responded and said “yes” on the inside, I came in agreement with this idea because I ultimately want to work with people that actually like to read.
Now, I’m not trying to say that this is a generation of illiterate people.
That’s far from the case.
What I no longer delude myself about is that, generally speaking, if you wish to invite a certain environment into your life, you must clearly define the parameters by honestly assessing what you’re looking for.
I’m looking for the raw and rare breed of person that wants to explore, to search for the actual truth to what burdens them and doesn’t just get emotionally charged for a quick feel-good message that’s all fluff and no substance.
The message I speak about is the Way, and how to walk it. The Spirit that ruled our culture forty, even fifty years ago was the Spirit of miracles. The Spirit that actually offered the possibility that you can, all of a sudden, be free from addiction. Or your disease might just stop being in your body.
But that’s not just what I long for. It’s the presence of falsely posturing snake oil salesmen at every corner that weakly try to feign compassion while they only administer care to people in what may actually be conjecture. Yeah. Conjecture. People are going around all this world saying they care, when all they care about is themselves. They walk around with their feel-good message and they don’t, for one minute, have any point of identification, no shared suffering, no honest exposure of their true intentions in the spirit of service and sacrifice.
That word- sacrifice.
Nobody wants to have anything to do with that word. This is a generation of soft, self-seeking, self-pleasuring folks. Even maybe a masturbatory expression of intimacy to just feel good- not once thinking of allowing someone else to feel better about themselves-none of this for one moment prioritizing a sensual manner, but an honest, real, forceful, loving manner. The unconditional kind.
Unconditional is being swallowed up in obscurity.
In summation, the unconditional love, that sacrificial kind of love is what’s going to separate the sheep from the goats. I hope the ones that are reading this can actually read and understand what I’m talking about. That they can actually investigate what this unconditional, sacrificial love is about. And if you’re one of those people, we’re gonna be alright. Even when the weak,self-serving generation that only cares about what they want tries to take our peace from us. Even then, we’re gonna be alright.
More to come…
